Running east to west, the ropeway line has two purposes: On the one hand, it acts as an accessible means of transportation for visitors to the “Gardens of the World” and the lookout platform “Wolkenhain” as well as the nature bobsleigh run on the Kienberg. On the other hand, it provides transportation between the city districts of Marzahn and Hellersdorf with direct connection to the subway station “Kienberg (Gärten der Welt)”. Subway Line 5 will take you directly to the heart of Berlin without a transfer, dropping you right at Alexanderplatz.
The 1.5 km long route has three stops: in addition to the two valley stations of “Kienberg Park” in Hellersdorf and “Gardens of the World” in Marzahn, there is also a stopover station at “Wolkenhain” on the Kienberg.
During the course of preparations for the International Garden Exhibition, various line layouts were reviewed for the ropeway before this route was implemented.
